Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born on August 9th in 1963, in Newark New Jersey. She is a mother of gospel singer Cissy Houston(nee Emily Lee Drinkard), and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney Elizabeth Houston's cousin Dionne Warswick is also a singer. In Newark, Whitney began singing in the choir of the church when she was a young child. At the age 15 she joined her mother in singing background vocals on Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. In 1981, she briefly was a model, appearing on the Seventeen album cover. Also, she provided backing vocals to Jermaine and Lou Rawls. The quality of her work as the lead vocalist in New York funk group Material attracted the attention of several major record labels, including Arista, with which she was signed in 1982, and continued to work with them for the rest of her career. In 1985, Whitney Houston's first album was one of the most successful debut albums ever. Several singles from her album became hits, such as The Greatest Love of All and Saving All My Love.
