Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born to a musically inclined family on August 9th, 1963 in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. and cousin of singer Dionne Warwick. In Newark Whitney started singing with the church choir in the early years of her childhood. At the age 15 she accompanied her mother the background vocals for Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. Her mother, Jermaine and Lou Rawls were a few of those who she sang with. The singer was also as a model for Seventeen Magazine in 1981. The vocals she sang with the New York-based band Material have attracted record companies of all sizes, including Arista. She signed with Arista in 1983, where she continued to work for the rest of her career. In 1985, Whitney Houston's first album was the top-selling debut album of all time. Several hit singles including the hit songs Saving All My Love For You How Do I know That You Love Me and The Most Beautiful Love of All were released from the album, setting her up to smash the Beatles record with seven consecutive US top 10s. The album's debut US year of release, the album has sold in excess of 3 million units. Then it went on to be listened to by more than 25 million people worldwide, earning her her first Grammy. The album that followed it in 1987 Whitney which included the hits Where Do Broken Hearts Go and I Wanna Dance With Somebody built the foundation of her popularity, however it was the 1992 film The Bodyguard (1992) that sealed her place as one of the best-selling artists in history. The film and her part as a character was not appreciated, but the soundtrack as well as her version of the song by Dolly Parton I Will Always Love You charted for several months in the charts, and she sold more than 44 million albums and singles across the globe. In the same year, she got married to former New Edition star Bobby Brown with whom she was the sole parent of their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown in March 1993. Around this time the drug use was well-documented and she started using it daily until 1996.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchor and political reporter. Her past work includes NBC, CBS and other prominent channels. Her productions include some of CNN's weekends shows including Evans & Novak Late Edition as well as Inside Politics. Her awards and accolades include being named to the "The Women in Washington Power List" by Elle magazine. She is known to have amazing anchoring and reporting skills, and is admired by young journalists. This George Washington University grad is a devoted mother to her only child. She was married twice and is now single. Bash is a fan of her fans with all of her heart.
